We lstened to our customers and improved and change things as this product evolved. We originally started this project 18 months ago. Thats 18 months of learning and evolving just on this one device. We truly belive this is the very best Sur Ron battery and controler upgrade on the market. we KNOW that other sellers have copied our program (these say to be copied is the greatest compliment), but now that we have pushed the boat even furthur. Our latest program has now been revised to include MORE power! Improved thermal roll back for motor protection, no problems with up hill starts or roll backwards stalls, no cutting out, extra water proofing, higher grade materials used. Stainless steel metal work and extra added powerder coating (you scatch it, it stil wont rust!!).

The acceleration is phenominal, truly FxxxxxG AWSOME! Remember when your bying this kit, It was only us and one other busines (ERT) that created this product for the Sur Ron. Others have copied, but NO ONE can compete against the qulity of these kits.


This controller can take battery swaps ranging from the standard untouched Sur Ron battery,  including a  “Bypassed” Sur Ron battery but is “Tuned” for our aftermarket  battery  @ 72v (max 85V). This is predominatly a 72v Kit and not “tuned” for a std battery. It carrie around twic ethe mount of energy of a standard battery, so lods  more range!! (speed and acceration kills range, so when comparing to a std bike, you need to ride like for like)

The controller now features  a full working display showing: speed, power, battery charge, date and trip. Set with 5 power levels as default that can be flicked at the touch of a button on the fly  (just your thumb, no gloves off or stopping), Can be used like a gearbox to slip up and down the power levels (5 levels set as our default) to suite your terrain and riding style. (9 power levels available by simple settings in display for even greater refinement)

The controller comes fully potted and with all leads and looms fitted and waterproofed. The mounts are in place, stainless steel and powder coated in black.

Power levels:

Power Level #1 60V standard Sur Ron Battery (All batteries) Gives approximately double the range of a std bike

Power Level #1-2-3 60V Sur Ron Bypassed  battery and 72v battery

Power levels  #4-5, Only our 72v battery (third party 72 batteries are not supported by us and may be damaged by this set up)

Please note that running on full power for your type of battery, non stop with a wide open throttle is not a good idea and effectively red lining the motor like on a petrol bike. We strongly recomend that you upgrade to our hevay duty bash gurad to increase ari flow over the motor, make your frame stiffer and take heavier knocks. Increased air flow over the motor (cooling) will increase reliabilty and stop thermal roll back kicking in so quick (where poer is reduced tempraliy to help the motor). However if you do ride very very hard and get close to overheating the motor, Our new imporved thermal roll back will gently cut the power until the motor cools enough to accept full power agin. This only tends to happen if yor riding full open throttle down a very long straight (like the M1 motoway).

Unleash more performance and range with correct gearing.  Higher gears (Smaller rear sprocket) does not mean higher top speed. Over labouring the motor with the wrong gearing costs top speed, acceleration and range.

A fast efficient spinning electric motor goes better – simple!.

Our recommendations for a fully equipped 72v system:

For road use:                           10-14 stone rider 52T.           15-17 stone rider 54T.        18+ stone rider plus: 56T

For Off Road/Off Road:       10-14 stone rider 54T.            15-17 stone rider 56T.         18+ stone rider plus: 58T

Controller Feature Set

  • Both the ASI BAC4000 and ASI BAC8000 use almost the same programming. The ASI  BAC4000 under exceptional hot day and extreme hard use may throttle back and restricted to 431 Pahse Amps. the ASI BAC800 is capable of 850A. The ASI BAC8000 designed for much bigger motors, will not throttle back and will never be stressed.


Others copy, se we improve and change. The old APT display (as used by everyone else) had a tendancy to steam up on a hot day if  the  bike had been washed with a hose or exposed very heavy rain, So guess what? we went to another display manufacturer and had another display devolped just for us. We are the only Sur Ron kit that now uses our dedicacted display. Its got our programing and logo on it, so lets see ow long before we are copied again (PS, its really good to use)!

There is no actual need to to reset the display between voltages. However the battery status will show incorrectly if you do not. This is a simple few button press in the settings.

The important factor to remember are:

72V battery: full at 83V-84v and empty at 60v. If you have a battery with no BMS  discharge monitoring (only used to balance charge),  you must stop riding your bike at 59V/60V as going below could damage your battery. With the Electron Cycles 72v battery this is not and issue as the BMS will protect  the battery and cut your motor before damage to battery occurs.

On a Sur Ron “Bypassed” Battery. The battery if full at 67V and dead at 48v, However you will not be able to charge your battery if you go below 54V. This does not harm the battery but you will need to buy or “Recovery Charger”  if you want to get around 30% more range than a std SR battery:

On a Sur Ron standard Battery. The battery if full at 67V and empty at 54v, The BMS in battery will stop your battery from drainingg too far. In reality there is very little gain on running a STD SR battery  with this controller.

These power packs are designed for ultimate power supply and are 58% bigger watts hours (3020) compared to the std battery (1920Wh althugh only allows 1000Wh to be used becasue of vbery high LVC) and able to give out almost 4 times the power (discharge -amps)

The Cells are genuine branded cells specifically designed for high output discharge and sustained high drain. Other inferior cells used in cheaper packs simply can’t deliver like these. If you think the cost is high, these batteries have 208 cells that retail in the UK for around £6 each! not including: BMS, fabrication and shipping taxes.

The whole battery is fitted in  hand made stainless steel case designed to handle those inevitable and hopefully not painful “Offs” with hard off road rides and giving masses more protection.

The main battery to controller connectors we use are the same type as used by Sur Ron to keep everything compatible. This allows you to swap your standard battery back should you wish.
Battery is in a super tough hand built stainless steel case designed to keep your battery safe in an accident and waterproof  to IP67 (jet washing and 1m submersion). Designed to fit straight into the bike and maximize the whole battery compartment (the hatch bolts need swapping  out with longer bolts that we supply – 2 minutes and simple). No movement- no rattles!
From our tests, not all Sur Ron frames are exactly the same. Sur Ron recently seem to have let their quality control down a bit. On our mark two prototype (pre releases) we suddenly found that our case did not fit in the 4th bike we tested it in , Sur Ron hand not cleaned the battery compartment frame welds. We then went back to the drawing board and re-deisnged the case.
The new and for sale case has flitted all 4 test bikes. Its a snug and tight fit to maximize the cell capacity and keep the battery as low as possible. It is very slightly possible that there is anther bike out there with poor welds. In this case there is a smal possibility that your bike welds will need cleaning up with a dremmel/grinder. This is a simple job and causes no damage to the bike. I would like to make the point clear that we do not expect this to be needed  by 99% of our customers the battery should slot straight in.

Please ALSO note, these are genuine new cells and made up into complete battery specially designed by us, built at the factory or here in the UK by our dedicated battery builders. We simply can’t buy a single battery, Thanks to Paypal fees, shipping and taxes the markup is minimal!

Charging: First time charging is important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up from the mains. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time.

* 6 Month Warranty is for manufacturing defaults and does not cover miss use or accidental damage. These units are extremely strong and robust and will not let you down unless abused. We undertake warranties here in the UK. We take the pain!

Please note, Lithium batteries are considered hazardous and due care and attention should be taken. Although these cells are in wide use, and professionally manufactured in a purpose built factory; because of the power of the battery, we strongly recommend that precautions are taken. We do not recommend charging inside the family home and charging should be supervised. We take no responsibility for misuse. These batteries are thoroughly tested (full discharge and charge cycles at the manufacturing stage and also pre-delivery). These are not DIY or amateur built devices.

Fitting Services (highly recommended)

We now offer a fitting service in different location around the county.

Each location has different working patterns.

Generally the bike will need to be dropped of at prior arrangement and collect one working week later. but must include a full weekend in between.

Self Fitting:

We will include a 13 page illustrated set of instructions. However we do strongly advise for one of our fitters to install. We do make the assumption that if your fitting this kit yourself, you know what you are doing. All kit leaves here tested and working. Think of it like this. You buy a motor from Honda, Suzuki etc and fit yourself. You would not expect Honda to talk you through the fitting. We will not give support outside of Monday – Friday normal business hours.

This is a plug and play system, but we now believe there are at least three slightly different version of the Sur Ron Lightbee motor. This can cause some minor issues. Because of this we now include 1 hour free remote support during our working hours (9 – 5.30 Mon-Friday). We strongly advise that you factor in our working hours when fitting. We will not give support outside these hours. To give remote support you will need either an media phone/note pad and good internet connection.

We do not warranty damage caused from your fitting. Every kit is bench tested before leaving our premises.

Our warranty is limited to 6 months from time of purchase. Due to the use and the nature of this device (Off-Road) and the potential excess  exposure to: water, rain, mud and the possibility to sustained high powered use/abuse, we do not warranty controllers that show signs of damage, excess heat or water penetration. The controllers are full bench tested working with a full working motor before leaving our premises. Any damage caused by your installation is not covered by our warranty. We highly recommend the use of one of recognized fitters where installation is fully covered.

Warranties are not transferable.

We reserve the right to slightly modify or change this product without notice.
