This controller can take battery swaps ranging from the standard untouched Sur Ron battery,  including a  “Bypassed” Sur Ron battery and after market  batteries @ 72v (max 85V)

The controller now features  a full working display showing: speed, power, battery charge, date and trip. Set with 9 power levels that can be flicked at the touch of a button (just your thumb, no gloves off or stopping), can used like a gearbox to slip up and down the power levels to suite your terrain and riding style.

Set at a safer (motor wise) 13500 watts to give full power going up with  3 – 5 – 9 power  increments, depending on how you intend to use the bike.

The display can be set to use as many power levels as you choose.

If you are using the bike as a dedicate 72v machine, then you may want to set the amount power levels to 3 or 5. each press of the button flicking the power jumps as a division of the full power of 13,500w.

If you intend to use a 60v battery, then you will have to leave the display at our default 9 power levels. This allows the controller to throttle back power at the lower levels to to stop over burdening a std SR Battery/std SR Bypass battery. In this scenario a std SR 60v battery can use power levels  1, 2, 3, and with the power not going above 4500W (there is no real performance gain with  std battery).

If you have the STD SR 60v battery bypassed, the power levels can now uses up to power levels 4 & 5 giving 6,000w & 7,500w respectively (we do not recommend running at this power for long periods of time at full throttle  on a bypassed battery). But swapping in your after market battery, you can now use the remaining power levels of 7, 8, and max 9, hitting a maximum of 13500W.

Please note that running on full power non stop with a wide open throttle is not a good idea and effectively red lining the motor like on a petrol bike.

  • Both the ASI 4000 and 8000 use the same programming. The ASI 4000 under exceptional hot day and extreme hard use may throttle back. The ASI 8000 designed for much bigger motors will not

Displays

There is no actual need to to reset the display between voltages. However the battery status will show incorrectly if you do not. This is a simple few button press in the settings.

The important factor to remember are:

72V battery: full at 84v and empty at 60v. If you have a battery with no BMS  discharge monitoring (only used to balance charge),  you must stop riding your bike at 60va s going below could damage your battery. With the Electron Cycles 72v battery this is not and issue as the BMS will protect  the battery and cut your motor before damage to battery occurs.

On a Sur Ron “Bypassed Battery. The battery if full at 67V and dead at 48v, However you will not be able to charge your battery if you go below 54V. On a Sur Ron standard Battery. The battery if full at 67V and empty at 54v, The BMs in battery will stop you battery from daring too far. In reality there is very little gain on running a battery like this with this controller.

We will include a instructions  to your email address. However we do strongly advise for one of our fitters to install. We do make the assumption that if your fitting this kit yourself, you know what you are doing. All kit leaves here tested and working. Think of it like this. You buy a motor from Honda, Suzuki etc and fit yourself. You would not expect Honda to talk you through the fitting. We will not give support outside of Monday – Friday normal business hours.

This is a plug and play system, but we now believe there are at least three slightly different version of the Sur Ron Lightbee motor. This can cause some minor issues. Because of this we now include 1 hour free remote support during our working hours (9 – 5.30 Mon-Friday). We strongly advise that you factor in our working hours when fitting. We will not give support outside these hours. To give remote support you will need either an media phone/note pad and good internet connection.

Generally the bike will need to be dropped of at prior arrangement and collect one working week later. but must include a full weekend in between.

Battery 72v 42Ah (3024wH – 58% bigger capactity than a 60V std battery)

Designed to run the ASI BAC 4000 or 8000 and Nuclear controllers  (any 72v capable controller) up to 300 Amps and use on the Sur Ron Light Bee.

This will not work with the original X Controller.

These power packs are designed for ultimate power supply and are 58% bigger watts hours (3020) compared to the std battery (1920) and able to give out almost 4 times the power (discharge -amps)

High Power Sur Ron Battery 20S14P 72v 3020Wh 42Ah Sony VTC6 (high power 3000 mAh  per cell).  ANT bluetooth BMS (works on IOS and Android) designed to fit inside the Sur Ron battery compartment utilizing the existing battery tray. The Cells are genuine branded cells specifically designed for high output discharge and sustained high drain. Other inferior cells used in cheaper packs simply can’t deliver like these. If you think the cost is high, these batteries have 240 cells that retail in the UK for around £6 each! not including: BMS, fabrication and shipping taxes.

The whole battery is fitted in  hand made stainless steel case designed to handle those inevitable and hopefully not painful “Offs” with hard off road rides and giving masses more protection.

The main battery to controller connectors we use are the same type as used by Sur Ron to keep everything compatible. This allows you to swap your standard battery back should you wish.
Battery is in a super tough hand built stainless steel case designed to keep your battery safe in an accident and waterproof  to IP67 (jet washing and 1m submersion). Designed to fit straight into the bike and maximize the whole battery compartment (the hatch bolts need swapping  out with longer bolts that we supply – 2 minutes and simple). No movement- no rattles!
From our tests, not all Sur Ron frames are exactly the same. Sur Ron recently seem to have let their quality control down a bit. On our mark two prototype (pre releases) we suddenly found that our case did not fit in the 4th bike we tested it in , Sur Ron hand not cleaned the battery compartment frame welds. We then went back to the drawing board and re-deisnged the case.
The new and for sale case has flitted all 4 test bikes. Its a snug and tight fit to maximize the cell capacity and keep the battery as low as possible. It is very slightly possible that there is anther bike out there with poor welds. In this case there is a smal possibility that your bike welds will need cleaning up with a dremmel/grinder. This is a simple job and causes no damage to the bike. I would like to make the point clear that we do not expect this to be needed  by 99% of our customers the battery should slot straight in.

Please ALSO note, these are genuine new cells and made up into complete battery specially designed by us, built at the factory or here in the UK by our dedicated battery builders. We simply can’t buy a single battery, Thanks to Paypal fees, shipping and taxes the markup is minimal!

Charging: First time charging is important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up from the mains. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time.

Please note, Lithium batteries are considered hazardous and due care and attention should be taken. Although these cells are in wide use, and professionally manufactured in a purpose built factory; because of the power of the battery, we strongly recommend that precautions are taken. We do not recommend charging inside the family home and charging should be supervised. We take no responsibility for misuse. These batteries are thoroughly tested (full discharge and charge cycles at the manufacturing stage and also pre-delivery). These are not DIY or amateur built devices.

We have been asked about having the case painted. Stainless is quite a hard material for paint to key on to and would put the price (to You) even further. For less than £10 and more time (yours) it is very easy to “Vinyl Wrap” these. Easily found and purchased on places like Ebay or Amazon – hope this helps
