Going over 60V battery, this kit may cause damage to any third party 72v battery and designed to work with the Electron Cycles 72v fully monitored BMS battery.

What your getting

You buy the kit, we email you with a delivery address and you send your battery to us (please note this will be a delivery address and not our workshop or warehouse – for security reasons), we do a BMS bypass on it and send it back to you with the full controller system. Time from you to us, and return to you is about 7 days.

Our kit includes a fully mapped and locked ASI BAC800o, loom stainless steel mounts, display and fully programmed.  The controller is made watertight and ready to go on any normally working Sur Ron with a standard throttle (both cable and electronic). There are a few irregular throttles out there and for this we may need to give a free remote session to tune the throttle.

The std Sur Ron battery can only go as low as 54V and then not charge. The cells are good to go lower than 45V, but we set the voltage cut off to stop taking power at 48V. This gives a much bigger and workable voltage range of the battery (19 workable volts instead of a standard 13 volts). To go below 54V, when charging you will need to plug in the supplied recovery charger, into the discharge port (where the black and orange plug goes) of the battery, and charge back above 54V, then swap the original Sur Ron charger back into the battery to complete the balance charge back to 67V (full).

This controller can take battery swaps ranging from the standard untouched Sur Ron battery,  including a  “Bypassed” Sur Ron battery and our after market  battery @ 72v (max 85V)

The controller now features  a full working display showing: speed, power, battery charge, date and trip. Set with 5 power levels as our default, that can be flicked at the touch of a button (just your thumb, no gloves off or stopping), can be used like a gearbox to slip up and down the power levels to suite your terrain and riding style.

Set at a safer (motor wise) max  13,500 watts, to give full power going up with  5 power  increments.

Power levels (can be changed to 9 in the display settings):

Power Level #1 Super Eco (All batteries)

Power Level #1-2 All batteries but #2 highest for std Sur Ron battery

Power levels #3  SR 60v Bypass mod battery or our 72v battery.

Power levels  #4-5 Only our 72v battery (third party 72 batteries are not supported by us and may be damaged by this set up)

Please note that running on full power for your type of battery, non stop with a wide open throttle is not a good idea and effectively red lining the motor like on a petrol bike.

 

Unleash more performance and range with correct gearing.  Higher gears (Smaller rear sprocket) does not mean higher top speed. Over labouring the motor with the wrong gear costs top  speed, acceleration and range.

A fast efficient spinning electric motor goes better – simple as is.

How Do you order this?

You buy this listing. we send you a mail drop address where you can have the battery sent to using a service like www.parcels2go.com. We collect your battery from the collect shop (sorry we do not give our workshop or warehouse address out for security reasons due to the high amount of break ins related to electric bike products, Our registered business address is available on request) and do the work to it. We then send the battery back to you with your controller loom display and recovery charger. If you want us to fit it for you, we will arrange with one of our install centers. You can take your bike along under appointment and pay the fee direct to the technician, normally £200 direct.

Displays

There is no actual need to to reset the display between voltages. However the battery status will show incorrectly if you do not. This is a simple few button press in the settings.

The important factor to remember are:

72V battery: full at 84v and empty at 60v. If you have a battery with no BMS  discharge monitoring (only used to balance charge),  you must stop riding your bike at 60va s going below could damage your battery. With the Electron Cycles 72v battery this is not and issue as the BMS will protect  the battery and cut your motor before damage to battery occurs.

On a Sur Ron “Bypassed Battery. The battery if full at 67V and dead at 48v, However you will not be able to charge your battery if you go below 54V. On a Sur Ron standard Battery. The battery if full at 67V and empty at 54v, The BMs in battery will stop you battery from daring too far. In reality there is very little gain on running a battery like this with this controller.

We will include a instructions  to your email address. However we do strongly advise for one of our fitters to install. We do make the assumption that if your fitting this kit yourself, you know what you are doing. All kit leaves here tested and working. Think of it like this. You buy a motor from Honda, Suzuki etc and fit yourself. You would not expect Honda to talk you through the fitting. We will not give support outside of Monday – Friday normal business hours.

This is a plug and play system, but we now believe there are at least three slightly different version of the Sur Ron Lightbee motor. This can cause some minor issues. Because of this we now include 1 hour free remote support during our working hours (9 – 5.30 Mon-Friday). We strongly advise that you factor in our working hours when fitting. We will not give support outside these hours. To give remote support you will need either an media phone/note pad and good internet connection.

Each location has different working patterns.

Generally the bike will need to be dropped of at prior arrangement and collect one working week later. but must include a full weekend in between.

Our warranty is limited to 6 months from time of purchase. Due to the use and the nature of this device (Off-Road) and the potential excess  exposure to: water, rain, mud and the possibility to sustained high powered use/abuse, we do not warranty controllers that show signs of damage, excess heat or water penetration. All devices are fully bench tested working with a full working motor before leaving our premises. Any damage caused by your installation is not covered by our warranty. We highly recommend the use of one of recognized fitters where installation is fully covered.
