We have now fully tested this motor, battery and controller combo in an off-road set up (road set up to follow shortly and will update this listing as soon as finished).

What can we say “Fxxxxxng Incredible!!!!”

We have sat back and watched the others mess about and then  did our own thing.

We will sell the controller with two sets of our maps: Motorcross/Enduro and Road.

Motorcross/Enduro (recommended rear sprocket 52T) This is will be our race set up as proven at Ashdown Motocross track Oxford and the woody hills and rock climbs here in North Devon. Both our 13 stone team rider and our 19 stone CEO have now ridden and tuned the bike to get this perfect off-road formula.

The bike uses the original power button for Eco and Sport. Eco is now set up for a controllable but very fast 14500Watts (we set our ASI BAC400 and 8000 at 13500W and the KO is even more crazy). This is enough power to: light up the back wheel, power slide out of berm and basically be faster than nearly any other known electric bike we have ever ridden (this bike destroyed a Cake and Storm Bee. KTM Freeride and EVERY OTHER BIKE). The power to weight is phenomenal, but still controllable. HOWEVER, when the passing place appears, or there’s a long straight or monster jump, the bike is already rolling at good speed and you absolutely have to destroy every other bike in the park, you hit the: funny button, the nutcase button, sometime also known as the “Sport” button. Time stands still, the nearest Cake or Storm bikes, start to go backwards and your future suddenly appear right in front of your eyes. yes this is the full power mode of 18KW!. Now some jerk may say “Only 18 KW, my BAC does that” Nope it really doesn’t. You most likely with the BAC using a big rear 58T sprocket, but this baby is running  52T and  the grunt is absolutely nuts. We could have turned this up higher, but like we said this is a true race set up and NOBODY can handle more than this. The bike wants to flip at 40 mph and that corner you normally take at mid speed is  suddenly coming up way faster and seem much too tight. If you really don’t ride off-road, and want even more power for top speed honing and urban warfare (road top speed need more power but quite uncontrollable off-road, you cant do 75MPH around a MX track). Through the mobile phone application or PC software available from us or  KO Motor website, you can tune the power up or down and its very easy to do, but we think  we have nailed it with our tune. But hey, knock your self out and do your own thing if you want it, its all there for messing.

Road: Were still testing this and hoping to have the tune locked out when our new set of decent Avon tyres turn up. Wave all had hear attacks on this bike with  knobblies and over 60 mph should be done on squirmy MX tyres running 12psi!  Well update as soon as we have more details. Our aim will be slightly different to the MX version. To run the bike every day on eco mode around 14.5kw (still totally nuts), but hit sport mode and give the motor everything we have at it. But this will drain your battery fast and you can not hold this for sustained top speeds can (wil drain the battery FAST). Were aiming at full power at a crazy 21+KW, to be used as “After Burner” only. In eco mode, the bike will pull away smoothly, still give wheelie popping performance and hit huge sustainable real top speeds, but still just helps the range a bit.

Battery “Konig” : We designed this battery especially for this motor. Its 72v 42Ah but with extra resistance reducing connections, BIG  BMS (so very thing monitored and cut off for safety. Not a dodgy BMS bypass tupe) and extra thick 6AWG cables mated to QS 8 anti spark connector. We still give a second “normal” SR connector (Supra D6) so that you can connect your DV convertor to power lights end share some of the crazy current. We use 200 Molicell P42A 21700 cells to dish out the juice – best in class and defiantly not the much cheaper more fragile pouch cells. The battery saps in and out of the bike in under 60 seconds and easily swappable. This is an outstanding battery.

The main battery to controller connectors we use are the same type as used by Sur Ron to keep everything compatible. This allows you to swap your standard battery back should you wish.
Battery is in a super tough stainless steel case with handle, designed to keep your battery safe in an accident and waterproof except immersion or direct jet washing at the cable exits.
Supplied with handlebar volt meter.

From our tests, not all Sur Ron frames are exactly the same. Sur Ron recently seem to have let their quality control down a bit. On our mark two prototype (pre releases) we suddenly found that our case did not fit in the 4th bike we tested it in , Sur Ron hand not cleaned the battery compartment frame welds. We then went back to the drawing board and re-designed the case.
The new and for sale case has flitted all 4 test bikes. Its a snug and tight fit to maximize the cell capacity and keep the battery as low as possible. It is very slightly possible that there is anther bike out there with poor welds. In this case there is a very  small possibility that your bike welds will need cleaning up with a dremmel/grinder, although with this latest design we have not found this in over 300 installs. This is a simple job and causes no damage to the bike. I would like to make the point clear that we do not expect this to be needed  by 99.9% of our customers the battery should slot straight in.

Please ALSO note, these are genuine new cells and made up into complete battery specially designed by us, built at our oversees  factory or here in the UK by our dedicated battery builders. We simply can’t buy a single battery, Thanks to PayPal fees, shipping and taxes (hate VAT) the markup is minimal!

When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark. Turn the red trip switch on the bike to off. Connect the older original power cable and then turn the red trip to on. Then connect the new power leads. Removing battery has no special order.

Charging: First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up from the mains. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time.

Please note, Lithium batteries are considered hazardous and due care and attention should be taken. Although these cells are in wide use, and professionally manufactured in a purpose built factory; because of the power of the battery, we strongly recommend that precautions are taken. We do not recommend charging inside the family home and charging should be supervised. We take no responsibility for misuse. These batteries are thoroughly tested (full discharge and charge cycles at the manufacturing stage and also pre-delivery). These are not DIY or amateur built devices.

Fitting Services (highly recommended)

We now offer a fitting service in different location around the county.

Each location has different working patterns.

Generally the bike will need to be dropped of at prior arrangement and collect one working week later. but must include a full weekend in between.

Our warranty is limited to 6 months from time of purchase. Due to the use and the nature of this device (Off-Road) and the potential excess  exposure to: water, rain, mud and the possibility to sustained high powered use/abuse, we do not warranty controllers that show signs of damage, excess heat or water penetration. All devices are fully bench tested working with a full working motor before leaving our premises. Any damage caused by your installation is not covered by our warranty. alteration may void warranty. This includes shortening of cables and changing connectors. We highly recommend the use of one of recognized fitters where installation is fully covered.

Warranties are not transferable.

We reserve the right to slightly modify or change this product without notice.
